What should I do with.....
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 4:58PM I love that people come to me for a little help with what to make for dinner. My aunt does it all the time... she will call and say "I bought a piece of fish and I have some tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives... what should I do?". A firend that I work with at my other job loves to ask me for ideas when sdhe has her family over. I am thrilled when these people try my ideas and are successful. Last week a friend was looking for a Tomato Fennel Bisque recipe and so the first thing I did was google in those words and was surprised that there were no recipes quickly available. I do not tend to think in recipe form, so I look to others recipes for amounts when I give another person ideas. I called my friend and found out what else she had in her pantry and together we came up with a plan rather than a recipe.
The other day in a thread on Facebook several friends started discussing crock pot ideas. It was fun to see the way that played out and I thought it would be fun to have something like that on this site. For now it will be in this blog form. If you have something in your pantry that you are not sure what to do with leave me a comment and I will give you some ideas. If I don't come up with something good maybe someone else will!!

Hey Liz, I was wondering, since you don't work with exact amounts, have you seen the book Ratio?
I like the idea, but I'm not sure if it translates well in real life. I, too, love figuring out creative ideas with ingredients on hand. I'll be sure to ask you next time I'm stuck : )
I was the lucky recipient of the tomato bisque advise. It turned out great. Thanks Liz!
